Every year between the holidays of Christmas and New Years we plan to go cruising. We generally have time off or a reduced amount of work due to the holidays so we like to head somewhere like Cayo Costa or Keewaydin. This year, with red tide in the area along the coast, we decided to head up the … [Read more...] about Post holiday down time at Franklin Locks
Franklin Locks
Franklin Lock and Dam is a navigable lock on the Caloosahatchee River with excellent campground facilities and 8 boat docks. It's one of our favorite winter cruising destinations and is a great place for us to take the kids since they can ride bikes and build campfires.
Below you will find all the blog posts that we've tagged as 'Franklin Locks.'
Off the dock and to Franklin Locks!
As I mentioned in my previous post, the day after Thanksgiving we finally got off the dock for the first time in 6 months. That was quite a long spell for us to be docked since we typically cruise a lot more often even if only getting out for the weekend. We've been so busy with work and traveling … [Read more...] about Off the dock and to Franklin Locks!
Cruising the East Coast of Florida & Lake Okeechobee aboard a 48′ Sea Ray
If you follow us on Facebook, you might have heard that the Blue Turtle crew was invited to help bring back a 48' Sea Ray from the East coast of Florida to Fort Myers Beach. Post Thanksgiving trip to W.P. Franklin Lock and Dam
Since we had an extra day with the Thanksgiving holiday, we decided to cruise out to Franklin Lock and Dam this past weekend. My parents used to live-aboard a 38' Marine Trader and … [Read more...] about MLK weekend trip to Franklin Locks

For those who follow this blog you know that we've made this trip annually as a sort of family tradition the weekend after Thanksgiving—usually with my parents on Island Time. W.P. Franklin Lock and Dam – Jan. 18-20
Last weekend we set out for a long weekend to one of our favorite winter spots, Franklin Locks. We made this trip back in November right after Thanksgiving and we just love it this time of year. Trip to W.P. Franklin Lock and Dam – Nov. 29 to Dec. 1
Last weekend, the day after Thanksgiving we took a trip up the river to the Franklin Locks. We did the same trip last year after Thanksgiving and it might become a new tradition. Instead of dealing with all the Black Friday madness, we cruise up river to the locks and tie up at one of the 8 slips … [Read more...] about Trip to W.P. Franklin Lock and Dam – Nov. 29 to Dec. 1
Post Thanksgiving trip to Franklin Locks

Joining us were my parents (on Island Time) with my two nephews, Jack and Ryan. On board Blue Turtle was Randy, myself, Corey, Sophie, Johnny (Randy's father) and Gerry … [Read more...] about Post Thanksgiving trip to Franklin Locks
