So tomorrow it's back to the grind—the routine, the work, the clients. I worked some last week, but was out some due to us breaking down in Naples and retrieving the car. I just watched this video and soooo wanted to be back there (Dry Tortugas). Don't get me wrong, I love my work and clients and … [Read more...] about Post Tortugas/Keys trip wrap up
Florida Keys
The Florida Keys is a wonderful destination for anything on the water, from fishing and boating to scuba diving and snorkeling. It's a popular cruising destination because of its wonderful anchorages and marinas. We almost always stop to anchor in the Keys or head to Key West to stay in a marina for a few days when we cruise to the Dry Tortugas.

Last weekend diving Looe Key, July 25-27, 2014
With one last weekend in the Keys before we head back, we decided to go back to our favorite dive spot so far—Looe Key—anchoring again at Newfound Harbor. We stayed at Newfound Harbor on Friday night and got up early on Saturday to head to the reef. We arrived before any other boats, before even … [Read more...] about Last weekend diving Looe Key, July 25-27, 2014
More diving, fishing and a visit from Sea Crazy
The diving continued this weekend with a couple of trips out to Samantha Reef. The weather was perfect for diving and the water was smooth as glass. Samantha is an un-marked reef with no buoys so we had to be careful making sure we dropped our anchor in the sand and not on part of the reef. We had … [Read more...] about More diving, fishing and a visit from Sea Crazy
Dive, dive, diving Marathon, Florida [Video]
This past week was spent working and catching up on chores. Finally, we went diving! Sombrero Reef is about 4 miles offshore from Marathon Marina which makes it very convenient to get in a few quick dives without all the travel time. A National Marine Sanctuary, the reef is marked by a 140 foot … [Read more...] about Dive, dive, diving Marathon, Florida [Video]

I finally had an opportunity to pull together some footage of a couple of out dives at Looe Key. Our friend, Melvin (the Goliath Grouper), makes a couple of appearances with his entourage. We were so lucky to have him swim beneath our boat for a while to let us see him and take some photos. Please … [Read more...] about Diving Looe Key [Video]

Bahia Honda anchorage & Looe Key dive, July 11 – 13, 2014
Since last week was spent on the dock at Marathon Marina, we decided we want to anchor out and dive for the weekend. Randy did some searching for anchorages and found one at Bahia Honda which is close enough to Looe Key for us dive. So, Friday afternoon we left the dock and headed toward Bahia … [Read more...] about Bahia Honda anchorage & Looe Key dive, July 11 – 13, 2014
Looe Key, July 5 – 6, 2014
On Saturday morning, July 5th, we left Key West and headed for Looe Key. Looe Key is a National Marine Sanctuary located 5 nautical miles off of Big Pine Key. The last time I was here was back in the 1990's with my parents. At the time I was only snorkeling while they dove the reef, but it was so … [Read more...] about Looe Key, July 5 – 6, 2014
Key West, July 2 – 5, 2014
After our awesome adventure in the Dry Tortugas, we were ready to head into civilization. Well, not really, but it was time to head on to Key West where we would stay in a marina for a couple days over the 4th of July holiday. We left early again knowing it would take us about 10 hours to get there … [Read more...] about Key West, July 2 – 5, 2014
Keys bound—Dry Tortugas, June 29, 2014
On our third day, we awoke early at our Jewfish Basin anchorage with our boat listing to port. We've had our boat list before, but since Randy replaced our cracked water tank, it solved the problem. In the past, our listing issues had to do with missing a water tank or taking on fuel. Randy and I … [Read more...] about Keys bound—Dry Tortugas, June 29, 2014
